I worked at VillageCareMax as a Call Center Representative for a few weeks. The location was very convenient, right outside the World Trade Center on Broadway. The building was very nice and there was lots of good food around. We were given one hour lunch and as a new employee you got lots of snacks. The salary for a bilingual representative was $17/hr and the lunch was unpaid. Well, this is pretty much where all the good stuff ends and the nightmare begins.
The management and employees at VillageCare are mostly fake nice. They will be nice to you in your face and later will say nasty shit about you when no one is looking. Basically, the management has no tolerance for anyone with a sense of humor and forget about going to lunch on time. They actually let me go because I dared to go to lunch after 2pm without permission. Its like working for fascists. The people who are friends with the crazy management are the ones who get to keep their jobs. I doubt too many people get promoted there. It is a rather small call center and they force people to work from home because often times there is no space to put all of their reps and apparently the company is too cheap to rent a bigger space.
No one cares about the welfare of the employees. Although I had been working there more than two weeks, I was never actually issued an ID card. I kept having to ask for a temporary pass to enter the building, which was very humiliating and inconvenient to say the least. The company is not very particular about giving people chances or keeping their employees. Instead of giving raises, they spend their money on temp agency fees because they keep firing people who will not put up with their crap.
In meetings, the management yells at the employees for longer than one hours explaining all the things that we are not allowed to do. If there are five calls in the queue, no one is allowed to use the restroom. I have seen leads literally chase after employees who dared to get up to go to the toilet when the queue had some calls there. There are also no official breaks.
The environment is very unprofessional and downright illegal. After listening to some calls, I realized that VillageCare makes it a habit to abuse the home attendants. They force them to stay in the home with abusive patients, even though the environment might not be safe for the employee. I really would not recommend this as a good place to work. Basically if you like being abused and are willing to stay quiet about all the illegal stuff that takes place at the company, then you are a great fit and they will keep you around.
