In the recent years, many people have become totally dependent on their television set. I am not sure if it is because we now have television available in high definition or if it is because of those addictive reality series like the Real Housewives, but many people just cannot survive even one day without their beloved television.
Some parents know for a fact that their children cannot go even one day without the television. This is sad but true. Of-course you would think that children could read a book or go play outside or something, however, in today’s society this is just not the case. Many parents are afraid to let their children play outside by themselves and as far as reading goes, the children of this generation are so accustomed to immediate gratification, that reading is just too much of a chore for them.
Television in and of itself is not necessarily a bad thing. However, too much of a good thing is never good either. To limit your television usage, try to change your schedule around and do something new and exciting. Write down the goals you have for your life on a piece of paper and try to work toward those goals every day.
Watching too much television is not the only problem in our society today. How about spending too much time on the computer or playing video games? If you are a parent and your child is addicted to these electronic forms of entertainment, you might want to figure out how you have contributed to these issues.
Usually children get obsessed with television, internet , and video games if they need an escape. Perhaps their home or school life is not that great and they need to forget about it. Try to spend more time with your children and show more love and support so they do not become obsessed with these meaningless mindless forms of entertainment.
