Marriage and family are two very serious issues. These issues can have a major impact on your life and the life of those close to you. Young children may be involved. For this reason I personally have a lot of concerns about getting married and starting a family.
Some people are risk takers. I am the opposite. I like to plan things out and I know what I want. I am too old and grumpy to take chances and there is no actual reason for me to do so. I like to be comfortable and prefer that things go my way. If they do not, I usually do not like to compromise too much and will likely send whoever it is I am with on their way.
Why the selfish approach? Because I have learned that compromising makes me miserable and in turn makes everyone else around me miserable. Now I choose not to do it. Take it or leave it. Peace out and that is all. It is really that simple. If you are not the kind of person that is happy just making me happy, well I guess it will not work out between us. What is the point of being in a relationship where your needs are never met. I thought the whole point of a relationship was to improve your life.
As far as having children, those little human beings require a lot of support and money. My partner has to have money and maturity to raise a family. I and my children come first. Emotional support is important and appreciation is key. Let us not forget respect, kindness, and consideration.
Main worry about marriage is just selecting the right partner to meet all my needs. Divorce and breakups can get ugly especially when custody and real estate is involved. However, you never really know until you know. How to avoid the pain and disappointment? How to outsmart the game? How to see through a liar and save my precious years from being wasted? Well, from experience I can tell you that it is important to watch out for the red flags and not dismiss small signs of your potential partner being an asshole. Trust me, if you don’t like entirely what you see when you just started dating them, do not assume that things will be getting better in the future or that you can change them. Relationships tend to get worse over time as partners find out more about each other’s faults and see each other for who they really are.
